Holonet Updates

Greetings members of Station Gamma!

Vanin Areldur here, Jedi High Marshal and resident numero dose in charge of this awesome station! I want to take a moment to welcome you all to the re-start of Station Gamma. You have a very unique opportunity to be apart of something both fresh and old. Station Gamma has a deep history with Star Wars: The Old Republic as I am sure you have already read about in Colonel Bege's first Holonet.

I have known Bege for over a year now and have played with him in several online MMO's including Star Wars Galaxies and my personal favorite Lord of The Rings: Online (Always enjoy a good chat about LoTR genre). I bring real life experience in leadership as a Vol. Firefighter in my hometown, and I come with many ideas a willingness to not just speak, but to listen, listen to new ideas members may have on how to improve things and how to make things more enjoyable for all of us here at Station Gamma. In the end we are here to have FUN! and fun is what I plan on having.

I look forward to getting to know you all and to play what looks to be one amazing game!

~ From The Desk Of ~

~`~ Jedi High Marshal Vanin Areldur

Greetings,

Borsalino Bege here, administrator of Station Gamma and colonel of the Iron Garrison. This is the first holonet update I am releasing with the new station. For those who are new I figured it would be appropriate to inform you on Station Gamma's history. ST-G, as it is most commonly abbreviated, was a large roleplaying guild in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies on the server Starsider. At that time it was actually a Imperial faction community to follow the tight military theme that Gamma still is today. Over its lifespan of nearly six years leadership was passed to many privileged and capable officers. Eventually I inherited command over the guild and saw it through possibly one of the most prosperous periods during its run. When SWG began to die out Station Gamma decided to go down with it. We disbanded and went our separate ways.

Over a year ago when I discovered the SWTOR community I settled myself in and found that an old friend and officer that served under me in SWG, Artemis Garp, had created Station Gamma already. I quickly joined and became a member there for a short period before he felt it was his time to leave. With Gamma never kicking off from the ground I myself decided to shut it down for a while. A few months later when the SWTOR forums became busier I revived Gamma myself and took full control of the guild's forums and facilities. Ultimately this run failed as well due to inactivity and poor selection of most membership.

They say the third time is the charm, and I am living by that saying right now as I have taken more time, more energy, and put more hope into this project as Station Gamma is now back again and better than ever with the help of an old friend. New forums, cleaned up cover page, and more simple content should help keep the guild in a good state no matter what activity level she is running on. Heavy roleplay is still what we are here for and we want to experience an in depth Star Wars experience with those who join our little community. If you are a new member reading this its clear that Gamma has seen some rough patches and hit some bumps in the road, but this is normal and now we are well prepared. For those hanging on the possibility of joining I urge you to visit and talk with us, read about us, or ask us questions. Station Gamma is back, and this time she is not going to fade away into the distance.

Trial Member Requirements

Greetings Recruit,

If your application is accepted or you are looking at this ahead of time this post will tell you everything you need to do in order to obtain full membership status. You will be placed in a trial group called "New Transfers" for exactly one week, seven business days. Your trial may be extended under certain situations or could possibly be cut short. There are a few things you must do during your trial to prove you want to become a fully fledged member of the Station. So make sure to show the effort! The requirements that must be done in those seven days are as follows:

۞ Obtain an avatar and set it up on your account.

۞ Report to your main division by following joining orders.

۞ Be accepted into that division by meeting its requirements.

۞ Make at least ten constructive posts. Spam, one word answers, and a lol does not count as a constructive post. Contribute to a discussion, vote on a poll, jump in a RP...its easy to get involved!

۞ Begin your roleplay trial at Centerpoint Station and complete your arrival. Sometimes your roleplay in Centerpoint will go on longer than your actual trial period. This is ok as long as you have completed all the other objectives and shown potential in your progressing roleplay.

When your trial phase has been completed you will be notified and be placed into a user group appropriate to your division. These are all relatively simple requirements, so make sure they are done within your allowed seven days. There is also nothing wrong with going above and beyond your requirements though, get to know everyone, post and have fun!

If you do not meet the requirements you will not make full membership and most likely be dismissed from the guild. Certain cases may be granted extended trial time. If your application is declined you are welcome to come back and apply at another time.

Thank you.

~Serve and Protect~

Thank you for showing your interest in joining Station Gamma and visiting our home. There is a little you should know about us before applying so you know what you are signing up for.

۞ We are a heavy roleplay guild. We will also focus on PvP and PvE, just not nearly as much. However we do not dictate a member's personal agenda when it comes to these aspects of the game. Like any other community we only expect participation in roleplay activities and events. If you are not interested in a guild that is focused mainly on roleplay, do not join.

۞ A serious concept we embrace here is that we are normal people working for the Republic. We are background character number four, or crewman in the black uniform. Not everyone can be a Obi-Wan or an Anakin. We are respectable, average, hard working Jedi, Troopers, and Smugglers and are heroes in our own way. We highly frown upon god moding here, and while it can be a common mistake its an issue that is either fixed or dealt with quickly.

۞ The guild has been revived just recently. Activity will be slow on the count that we are booting things up very late in the game. Many of the SWTOR lurkers are guilded as well as the fact that there are many, many guilds to choose from. With what we have, we will try to keep it as active as we can.

۞ The rules here must be read and understood. They do not ask much of you so we ask you follow them.

۞ Dormant members that lay low until the game release expect to be kicked out after regular inactivity purges.

Those are just a few heads up that will give you a small understanding of how we operate. We wish to be a tight knit community of people with a passion for roleplay and are looking to have fun. If you are still interested in joining please begin following the application process below to gain membership into the Station.

Seii's app

I was unsure if you can change your account name so I made another but that needs to be confirmed so i uploaded it with Seii for the moment as I'm on a tight schedule.

Personal Information:

Real Name: Steve
TOR Name: Seii
Age: 19

How did you find Station Gamma?/Did a member invite you?
Bit of both, I was involved in the previous incarnation of the guild, which played a large part in me deciding I wanted to join this one. One of the leaders, Borsalino Bege messaged me explaining that the guild was reopening soon and I decided to check it out.

Where you involved in any other SWTOR pre launch guilds before us?
Like I mentioned above I was one of the members of the Station Gamma before this one. Other than that though I did a brief spell in The Remnants of Hope as a character called Auden Terras, had a good time there but it was a bit too large a guild for me and Uni work at the time was getting pretty tough so I eventually left.

Why are you interested in joining us?
The previous Station Gamma was one of the first guilds I was ever in and was where I did my first real roleplay, so it might be that I struck gold or it might be nostalgia but I haven't been able to find an experience like it anywhere else. I searched a lot of guilds but none of them had the combination of a great setting, close knit community, high roleplaying standard, ordered ranking system. So as you can imagine once the guild opened up again I jumped at the chance.
As for why I first joined, the name caught my attention, and investigating it was the guilds lore that first attracted me, every other RP guild I encountered their lore consisted of a splinter group of the Republic/Empire who were extra good/bad, it just wasn't much to work with. Gamma's space station based story stuck out for me and it payed off, I also liked the emphasis on being 'just another person' that the guild has going.

Do you consider yourself mature?
Yes, leaving home has been a big step forward for me and I think I've learned quite a lot these past few years. Also I'm a Christian (I know, a load of stereotypes might have just entered your mind, please discard them all lol) so basically I try and be nice and polite ect when I can.

Tell us a little about yourself. Hobbies, job, ect.
Right now I'm at University (college to you Americans) studying a film production course. When I graduate I'm hoping for a career as either a sound engineer on sets or as a camera man. As for hobbies I play guitar, into general fitness, martial arts and badminton. I'm also pretty keen on self styled DIY at the moment that comes in the form of making filming equupment for myself. Also I'm into Star Wars, LOTR, Warhammer and basically all things geeky

What timezone are you?
GMT+0 (England)

Character Information:

Character Name: Ioss-Mar
Character Age: 31
Gender: Male
Race: Xa Fel
Place of Birth: Xa Fel
Class: Jedi Consular, Sage.
Role: Healer

Character Biography:
There were hundreds of families that showed up when the much rumored Jedi knight arrived on Xa Fel; the people's usual distrust of off-worlders was forgotten in light of the situation. For hours they lined up, each parading their young in front of the temple representative and giving various reasons, often made up, why they believed their child to be force sensitive.
Life for them was slavery in all but name. Hundreds of years ago when the Kuat drive yards had arrived on their planet and polluted their world, as well as their bodies, it was work for the company or starve for yourself. But that wasn't what drove the crowds today, their miserable lives were nothing new, and they knew little else. No, what truly drove them wasn't merely the prospect of one less mouth to feed, but that their child might escape the wake of the oncoming war. It didn't much matter to them if the Empire or Republic ruled the galaxy, little would change. But there were tales of how shipyard worlds were becoming major targets, Sluis Van supposedly reduced to ash, it had the people scared.
In the end three of the many were chosen, some said that was generous.
One of the young Xa Fel died during the flight back to Corusaunt, the clean air was what got to him. Of the two that arrived one was deemed worthy for training, and so, Ioss-Mar began his first steps on the road to being a Jedi.

Shocked even as a child to see the vast lifestyle difference between Corusaunt and his home-planet, it was something that affected Ioss for much of his life. He progressed well in training, choosing wherever he could to focus on the healing aspects of the force, his desire to aid his people led him to study biological science, something he became obsessed over later in life. Recognizing his keenness for healing his mentors set him up with the reknowned healer Orvus Beth for a Master. The Duros had served well for many years and became close with Ioss.

Away on an excursion when the sacking of Corusaunt took place, Ioss-Mar returned to find endless desolation and his Master dead. With the Order in such an array and many Jedi dead, Ioss was paired with a Twilek Sentinel named Jarek Ferrel as his new Master. Ferrel was a warrior to his core, not caring much for healing or subtle force techniques. His new master also became frustrated by Ioss' weak condition making him unable to use many lightsaber techniques and the fact he had spent hardly any time training a particular form.

Jerek at last decided to school Ioss in the little known form of Trakata, with the hopes that should he ever be forced into lightsaber combat the healer may at least have the element of surprise on his hands. Eventually Ioss passed his knighthood trials but the relationship between his former Master was an uneasy one at best and the two have rarely spoken since. Deciding to remain on Tython to continue his biological studies, Ioss has had relatively little combat experience and became something of a recluse within the order.

Character Traits:
Seemingly malnourished, Ioss' grey/black skin is covered with blisters and sores as well as being pockmarked and torn. Standing at about 5'7, his body is reminiscent of a charred corpse. With a bald head Ioss will generally try keep his hood up around people he isn't familiar with in order to avoid the obvious shock many feel upon seeing him for the first time.
His frame being quite weak it pains him to any physically strenuous activity for any long duration, as a result he now uses a staff to walk around and often uses painkiller medicine. However when the need arises he has trained himself to use to force to augment his body allowing himself brief moments of great activity.
Due to the cleanness of most atmospheres in comparison, Ioss is prone to coughing often and sometimes has to carry an inhaler with him to avoid fainting. His voice sounds like someone speaking with a mild sore throat and while being still being quite audible it contains a noticeable rasp to it. (Picture coming)

Known as a recluse among other Jedi. Ioss, a now accomplished biologist, is obsessive about his work. Living by the motto "For the greater good" he will go to extreme and sometimes morally questionable lengths to further his experiments he believes aiding towards saving countless lives. His main goal in life has been to cure his people of the infliction they have suffered so long with. While this is recognized as a worthy cause some are beginning to question whether curing his people, and in turn himself is possibly rooted in a more selfish desire; Xa Fel live only to about the age of 50, and this might be an attempt to extend his lifespan.

How much roleplay experience do you have?
I've been role-playing for about a year now, starting out with the old Station Gamma and continuing through with the odd SWTOR forum thread when I have the time; I also briefly had a go at Dungeons and Dragons but at the moment I don't feel truly comfortable with live roleplay (something I'm hoping to remedy by the time SWTOR is released). In truth though role-playing was really just putting a name to something that I had been doing for a long time, I struggle to play through a single player game without thinking up a character, back-story and motivation for what I'm playing.

Other MMO exeprience:

Game name: World of Warcraft
Character's Name: Joytex
Class: Mage
Server: Thunderhorn
Level: 40
Months/Years of play: Six months, give or take.

Game name: Runescape (I know, I know)
Character's Name: Joytex
Class: N/A
Server: N/A
Level: 85
Months/Years of play: 4 Years on and off.

Also did a stint of Lord Of The Rings Online, but it was a bit too brief to fully mention.

Sample Role-Play Post:

Breathing: calm, pulse: steady. Ioss-Mar focused the microscope slightly further in before injecting the unconscious reptilian insect with a purple colored substance; noting the physical changes that occurred across the creatures abdomen. Fascinating perhaps if- A knock sounded on the metal door breaking the Xa Fel's concentration. Ioss closed his eyes and cursed silently under his breath, "Later!" he called out, irritation showing past the obvious rasp in his voice "I'm busy." He shook his head before centering his attention back on his subject. The door slid open.

Ioss knuckles whitened as his fist clenched in annoyance, spinning around in his chair he prepared to berate whoever had disturbed him.

"Greetings Ioss"
The Xa Fel was caught up short by the appearance of Twilek Master Jerek Forrel in the doorway. Fumbling slightly he made a hasty bow in his seat.
"Ma-Master Forrel." It took him a moment to regain his composure, his throat felt drier than usual. "It is good to see you of course" his expression said otherwise "but I must insist, I am in the middle of vital research at the moment" He said rising from his chair, wincing slightly as he did so, and trying gently to usher the Master out of the doorway. Instead Forrel brushed past Ioss into the center of the room, surveying the clustered area around him with disapproval, equipment and half finished experiments littered the room as well as a large transparisteel box in the corner containing what looked like a mutated rakghoul.

"Ioss, no-one has seen you in three days." Master Ferrel said matter of factly while turning to face him. The expression the Master wore was hard, scars he had earned in battle seemed to stand out more than usual, looking closer Ioss saw there was something different about the his former Master today. But he couldn't put his finger on it.
"As I was trying to explain," irritation once again touching his voice as Mar moved next to Forrel. His short skinny build and calloused grey skin seeming but a shadow compared to the masters heavy muscular frame and smooth dark green skin. "I have been extremely busy these past few days. I think I might be on the verge of some kind of breakthrough. You don't know could many lives could be saved." The Master didn't seem impressed and there was little sympathy in his voice.

"That might be so," the Twilek folded his arms across his chest "but we've had no results from you, in fact you train no Padawans, you barley partake in any missions, no progress reports, it seems as though you haven't done anything since you passed your trials."
Ioss gawped for a moment, he was so close to a breakthrough, he knew it! but how to communicate that.

"That Padawan, what was his name..." the Xa Fel's brow furrowed slightly in thought.
"Temar" The Master's voice, still that unyielding tone, seemed to be running thin on patience.
"Yes that's the one, has he returned yet with the samples I asked him to retrieve?" Ioss sat down again and began searching around his desk through several documents. Forrel's reserve wavered for a moment seemed to break, he let out a heavy sigh and a pained look replaced the previous stern one.

"Ioss...Temar is dead." The Xa Fel froze mid action, time seemed to slow. Hands trembling he slumping into his seat. "He died trying to collect the sample," Ioss' throat seemed to tighten "the area was more dangerous than you'd suspected" The Master spoke slowly letting the words take effect, Ioss just sat there staring at the desk. The Twilek reached out an arm to rest it onto his old Padawan's shoulder but paused with it outstretched and let it fall by his side instead.

Grief, anger, shame, so many emotions ran through his head in that moment. Ioss-Mar ran his hand over his scalp feeling the roughness and unevenness of it, then his fist tightened and it seemed so did his resolve. He couldn't give up there was so much at stake. Ioss turned slowly to face his master, looking him in the eye. "This is my fault Master, his death hangs upon me." He swallowed "But if I stop this research then Temar's sacrifice will have been for nothing, you must understand, there are bigger things at stake here, an entire race's survival!"

Master Forrel stood motionless, he was no longer stern or pained but shocked. "You're losing touch" he said almost to himself. The Master shook his head, there was no emotion now, he did only what had to be done. Pulling a datapad from his robe and tapped a few of the buttons on it.
"There is an orbital station in the outer rim over the planet Voss" He looked at his former Padawan, his eyes were hard "they are in need of Jedi, you are going." It wasn't a question.

Have you read and understand the rules? If you have not read them please do so now.
I have done and will make do my best to upkeep them.

Note: Sorry that RP post went on for longer than I had anticipated, I don't usually ramble on for that long. Think of it as a sort of addition to the biography.

Station Gamma was a incredible sight to behold. A wonder full of surprises and technology that was at first, beyond anyone's comprehension. Powered by brand new and effective bio engineered nano organisms, the station was energized fully and efficiently at all times. While boasted by the Republic team that put it together as being a peace keeping and defensive structure it was armed to the teeth with state of the art weaponry that pushed the frontier of advanced defensive systems to new heights. A prototype Mass Driver was the pride and joy of the space structure's tactical stations, a massive laser capable of practically holding off a space fleet for a short time. From its luxurious administration decks down to the extravagant fins Station Gamma was a true beauty, a powerful behemoth, and a place called home by many. This sentiment was also shared by Colonel Borsalino Bege, Station Master of the space fairing station. He had been named Station Master nearly two months ago when the station was commissioned and open for crew.

Hard grey eyes were fixed on the station through a observation window. They watched the entity of a republic engineering project grow closer as the shuttle moved closer to dock. It floated in front of the lush planet of Voss, creating a very picture like appearance that appealed to his tired eyes. Bege shifted uncomfortably in his seat, eager to feel the softness of his personal bed. He longed to be back in his private quarters again, hoping for the time to give into much needed sleep. His three week departure from the station was a necessary political mission to keep a rather primitive race at bay. The Allied Tion Sector was packed tight with many native races much less technologically advanced as the those in far off places in the galaxy...and far more aggressive. The mission was successful and for now a loose alliance was formed with a race that had the potential to be a powerful enemy. So far Gamma's mission to explore and meet new races was fairly productive. Most first contacts were civilized and smooth. Others not so much. The Republic's attempt at establishing a JAG office in the Outer Rim was almost a total failure. Trying to lay down the law of the Republic turned out to be a rather unpopular motion in the sector and the Judge Advocate General in Station Gamma became the laughing stock of the Republic much to her dismay. Bege rather enjoyed that failure after his own personal and multiple scrapes with the Republic law system and its stuffy officials. Many often questioned his loyalty to the Republic with knowledge of this, but the few he called his friends knew better.

He ran his hand through well groomed hair, ruffling the black and grey bangs and sighed. It was good to home, he didn't like being away for to long. He preferred the quiet of his office and the privacy of his personal quarters. While he insisted gruffly that being a busy man tired him often it was popular among the crew for them to tease his lazy habits. He was well known in the Republic for his motion of what he considered "Moral Justice", a brand of justice that put your morales and judgement of right and wrong in dire situations. He chose this over the more widely used "Absolute Justice", a for the greater good way of doing things, a ruthless method that included doing anything to achieve a goal. Of course Bege's way of military command was quickly deemed "Lazy Justice" by the crew instead. Borsalino Bege, while having the tolerance to have other tease him in such ways, was a very serious man. Among his colleagues and fellow officers he was feared for his frightenly stern demeanor and tall forbidding appearance to match. One of his most distinct features as anyone would say, was his height. Easily a man of at least six foot eight he proved to be an intimidating figure to both adversaries and crew.

"Docking office to Gamma Glider One. Lower and shields and transmit your code to begin the docking procedure." A voice called over their transmitter flatly.

Station Gamma was notorious for its hangar bays in the Outer Rim. It was a docking place not only for the countless Republic vessels that were constantly on crew rotations, but near hundreds of ships from free-lancers, travelers, or just native locals looking for a quick refuel or tune up. Much to the Dock Master's ire Gamma provided their fueling and maintenance services to non Republic travelers all day for a fee. The hangar's were open all day, every day, and were a key part of the station. The constant in and out of ships varying from the size of a Republic Hammerhead Battle Cruiser to a small one man vessels made the docking bays seem like a total wreck. Quite the contrary however as the Dock Master and his assistant ran a tight shift. The two brought order to chaos in the madhouses that were the hangars and Bege was grateful of their dedication to keep their work efficient and organized.

His shuttle gently glided in past the blue energy field and set down gingerly on the docking bay's floor. Exiting the shuttle he was somewhat relieved to be around this organized chaos again. The clangs and zaps of hydro tools filled the air along with the chatter of countless personnel and spacers. The ships flying over head were second nature to the point where not a head ducked when a ship took off. A smile half smile crept on to Bege's face now that he had stepped foot in Station Gamma again. He was exhausted from his three week long diplomatic struggle and wanted nothing more than a little privacy.

"Sir! Sir! Colonel Bege sir!" A barely audible voice called out. Bege cringed at the intention to the trek to his quarters and turned. It was none other than his first Major Station Gamma was a incredible sight to behold. A wonder full of surprises and technology that was at first, beyond anyone's comprehension. This sentiment was also shared by Colonel Borsalino Bege, Station Master of the space fairing station.

It was none other than his first MajorStation Gamma was a incredible sight to behold.

It was none other than his first Major, Cavit. He strolled up to the taller man and saluted crisply, standing attention.

"At ease Major...before you sprain something." Bege turned and jerked his head slightly motioning for the other to follow.

Complying Cavit scurried to his side and began to rattle off a unintelligible list of things that had to be done upon his return. Bege closed his eyes for a moment gritting his teeth. He had almost forgot about the visitors from Spinax III due the next day. A station without a proper ambassador was beginning to weight on the Colonel's patience. He was well trained in all forms of massive multicomplex Republic outpost managing which meant extensive diplomatic credentials...however acting as a diplomat was his least favorite thing to do. He much preferred to be watching over his soldier Garrison, Team Kampilan, giving their projects direction.

"Sir...are you paying attention?"

Major Cavit shook his head and continued listing tasks before one large held firmly gripped his shoulder and halted him. "Those jobs can be done by Lieutenant Vorn and yourself. Routine inspections of the tactical stations and engineering is a little beyond my concerns right now Major. Leave what reasonable tasks that need to be done with my secretary and I will make sure to deal with them soon. Right now I have an important meeting to get to." Bege raised an eyebrow waiting for a response.

"Yes sir, right away." Cavit saluted again, nearly breaking an arm in the process, and once again ran off.

Bege nearly rolled his eyes before turning to leave. The Major was a young man fresh out of his training for a higher officer position. He was a prodigy when it came to military tactics granting him a high level position at such a young age. Bege picked him purposely for his advanced skills in military organization. However his social skills had something to be desired still. Realizing he was not running late for that important meeting with his bed he traveled out of the hangar and through the station to the turbo lift.

"Deck two, Sector 2-F." He carefully stated. In a instant the lift began its ascend a deck higher to the crew quarters. The door parted revealing a pleasant looking common room that forked in many different directions. It had taken him a while to remember what sub section his own quarters were located. Past the High Marshal's room was the Colonel's personal living space. A entrance room furnished with elegant furniture parted into a master bedroom and a study. It was a rather large space, one of the perks of being a Station Master. He quickly crossed the entrance room and gently laid himself down on his bed. Mere seconds after his head touched his pillow his personal communicator chirped.

"Colonel Bege. The High Marshal requests your presence." A muffled voice spoke.

"It will have to wait." He growled, annoyed at the intrusion.

"Sir...he says its urgent." The voice replied hastily.

Bege let out a long and angry huff before swinging his monstrous legs over the side of his bed and holding his head in his hands. That damn High Marshal had Bege on his last nerve ever since they transferred him there from the Jedi Temple. High Marshal Vanin Areldur was possibly the most cocky, unprofessional, and completely not serious Jedi he had ever met. Bege had no prejudices against Jedi, despite the popular military and Jedi rivalry. He had come to respect them in his many years of service as brave warriors and wise leaders. But this fool they sent from Tython was not capable of leading the custodial droid team that swept Gamma's halls at night. When Station Gamma opened two months ago there was never a shred of respect between the two men, and there was no reason he deserved any. The teasing Bege relieved about laziness was in good light, he did his share and more around the station. That useless sod of a Lightsaber flicker had done nothing worthy of a Station Master's position ever.

"I will be right there." Bege almost hissed, standing up from his previous position. With great disdain he walked back out of his room and made haste to the Administration Deck. The sooner he was done with this fool, the sooner he could get back to some privacy.
