Personal Information:

Real Name: (Fist name only) Tim
Age: (Must be 18+) 42

How did you find Station Gamma?/Did a member invite you? SWTOR forums; No

Why are you interested in joining us?

1) RP guild
2) Seem to be interested enough in PvE / Raiding for me
3) Seem to have limited enough interest in PvP for me

Do you consider yourself mature?

I sort of chuckled at this one... who's going to say "no"?

I'm not the sort to cause or get involved in guild drama (the non-RP kind) for any reason. I'm immature enough to still enjoy the heck out of video games. *shrug*

Tell us a little about yourself. Hobbies, job, ect.

I'm a project manager for a smallish software development company that boasts some very large clients. I enjoy video games - mostly MMOs but also some RPGs (BioWare mainly). I play Poker. I like driving with my wife in our convertible that we purchased with our daughter's college fund when she won her scholarships. Smile

What timezone are you? US EST (Detroit area)

Character Information:

Character Name:(Same as your forum name please.) Jacy, Lirin, Shainarra, probably others.
Character Age: Jacy - 27-ish, Lirin - 25-ish, Shay - 23-ish
Gender: Those 3 are all female
Class: (Must be a Republic Class, Also if a Jedi also choose Sub Class, Sentinel, Guardian, Consular. Please Note you may be a Jedi Consular and still be of the Jedi Knight class for RP reasons.)

Jacy - Consular
Lirin - Undecided; could be Trooper, Smuggler, or Bounty Hunter
Shay - Sith Warrior

Character Biography: (You can give just a sample, or the full story. Note that we have a strict canon policy.)

The girls are all sisters, the daughters of a wealthy business owner (haven't decided yet on mining, shipbuilding, or shipping). They're very close, though they've sort of gone their separate ways in the last maybe 10-12 years.

Jacy's force sensitivity was discovered by the Jedi relatively late in life, but ultimately she did wind up joining the order. She's got about 14 years of good training under her belt. The lateness of the start of her training has left her with some character flaws (as Jedi would see them), that will be expanded upon as I write more about her and play her.

I'll figure out Lirin's backstory when I figure out what class I want her to be.

Shay has always found herself on the "trouble" side of events; her whole life. Her sisters, especially Jacy, have done a lot of "covering" for her. She's really a good person at heart, but she's fallen in with the very wrong crowd in the Sith. Hopefully this guild will consider making a mirror of itself on the Sith side of things so we players can have a place to congregate on our darker alts. Wink

Character Traits: (Physical or mental features.)

The girls all look pretty similar, being sisters. They're Human, slightly taller than average, fairly physically fit, not extraordinarily attractive. Jacy has jet black hair; Shay dark auburn. Haven't decided on Lirin yet.

Due to their heritage, they have darker skin and angled eyes.

Their mannerisms tend to display confidence.

Their speech patterns indicate they are well educated.

How much roleplay experience do you have?

Started with table-top D&D way back in 8th grade, so 30-ish years on & off? I've done some fun things in MMOs with player-generated content, both as a participant and author. I don't do much forum-based RP; I've never really gotten into it. I'm more of a storyteller on the forums.

Other MMO exeprience:(If you have played other games please format and list like below. If you have multiple games to list, follow the same format each time leaving a space in between each list.)

I've been playing MMOs for 8-10 years. There is no way I'm going to remember all my characters. I'll give you what I remember.

Game name: WoW
Character's Name: Too many to list; main right now is Iristyl
Class: Iristyl is a Priest; I have 1 of most classes, 2 of some
Server: I'm usually on Wyrmrest Accord, Hordeside
Level: Mains are 80; others of various levels
Months/Years of play: Since it opened? 4? 5?

Game name: SWG
Character's Name: Sif.
Class: Um... TKA, I think? Mostly focused on mining pre-NGE.
Server: Don't remember
Level: Sif was maxed out at whatever class she was
Months/Years of play: A year? Maybe two?

Game name: LoTRO
Character's Name: Selvia, I think
Class: Warrior, I think? The game's equivalent, anyway.
Server: Don't recall
Level: Mid-30's I think
Months/Years of play: 6 months to a year I think

Game name: AC2
Character's Name: Don't remember
Class: Don't remember
Server: Thistledown?
Level: I think I got a character to max level?
Months/Years of play: 3-6 months

Game name: AC
Character's Name: Jacy was my main
Class: Archer/UA skills (didn't really have classes)
Server: Thistledown
Level: Max at the time
Months/Years of play: 2-3

Have you read and understand the rules? If you have not read them please read them here. Yep, yep.

After talking it over with a few of the other leaders we decided to decline this application, we just do not feel you have the mindset for the guild. We are sorry to inform you of this and wish you luck in whatever you do from here on.

Wow. That was FAST.

I am interested in specifics though. What did you perceive in my mindset that is so contradictory to the guild?

Yes we work very fast when it comes down to applications. While I cant speak for every guild members feeling, the other leaders I have consulted agree there is just a certain negative attitude that is given from the application. Since this application is how we base our applicants right off the bat and that was the initial feeling this was the outcome. Also the focus on three different characters, mainly one being a Sith is not the kind of roleplay we are looking for in Station Gamma. Alt characters are one story but it seemed like you just wanted to have three main characters constantly being used in Gamma. While there is nothing wrong with that, its not our style of roleplay.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I guess I can buy the "negativity" in chuckling at a question that everyone is always going to answer the same way...

But you mean to tell me you guys will NOT play alts, and will never play Sith? I don't think I've ever met a role-player with that mindset. Intriguing.

Ah well... best of luck to you all!

I am going to reply since I realize your are lingering around the site still probably waiting for an answer, which is fine. The chuckling at the question really had nothing to do with anything to be rather honest. That question can be seen in a few ways, the way I look at it isn't if someone says yes or no, but just how they answer it. The way you answered the question gave me an idea of your personality just like everyone else's I have read.

Of course we are all going to have alts, and alts on the other faction...that is fact. But I don't believe we understood how you were trying to set it up here, you wanted three consistent main characters in the guild? You mentioned one being a Sith which is fine, but for obvious reasons a Sith can not join a Republic guild. Little confusing.

Thank you, hope to see you around the community.

Obviously Sith can't join a Republic guild; thus my comment that I hoped the guild would consider creating a mirror of itself on the Sith side ofI things so its players could stick together while playing our Sith alts.

I have several character ideas. I have no idea which will be my main. Today I might think it's Jacy... but I may find through play that I dislike the Consular. So maybe it'll be Lirin or Shay or someone I haven't dreamt up yet. I need to find the combination of game mechanics + character personality that I really enjoy and that one becomes my main. I only know half the story - the personalities - so I'm coming up with alternatives.

What I find most concerning for this guild is that you drew a conclusion based on very, very limited information and insta-declined an applicant who may have been a really good fit and a solid contributor. I might suggest that in the future, you ask applicants clarifying questions when you have such concerns. Their answers may pleasantly surprise you.

Just a thought.

Well thank you for the tip. Sadly with me just being the one recruiting it has not been easy for just one man, I am putting together a team of people more qualified for the job. And before this topic gets bitter (which it could have easily) I am going to leave it at that and leave this thread open for others to see. I am not very reluctant to acknowledge my own mistakes on the matter however I never claimed to be the perfect leader.

Once again I am going to wish you luck and hope to see you around.

Personally I agree with Station Master Bege and his word is final in cases regarding recruitment at the moment. There is a general negativity that emits from your application and the way you answered that question was somewhat unnecessary. Before you speak to me on that note, lemme present you this question: would you fill out a business application out in the same manner as you had this? Let's say the question was "have you ever used nonprescription drugs or abused prescription medication?" and you knew most people would lie and answer "no."

Would you, then with this knowledge, ask the person who was reviewing the application on the form itself, "What kind of question is that? Everyone will say no?" No. I'm sure you wouldn't. If you read the rules you are supposed to read prior to filling out an application it does specifically state to treat the application process as if you are applying for a business. You need to make it look professional. I fail to see the professionalism in the way you answered the questions.
