Initiate Juden: Taris Colony Disappearance

Post  Tirus on Thu Jul 15, 2010 8:41 am

Taris, a planet of ruins shadowed in mystery and destruction. Movement stirred in the shadows of the former Lower City, ruble from broken buildings gave the rakghoul a place to hide from the sunlight. They have infested the entire surface of the planet it seemed, so many had survived the bombardment it was astounding. The Republic had sent a group of workers and troopers down to the Lower City in an attempt to create a stable colony that could act as a base of operations for the reconstruction and stabilization of the planet as a whole. Station Gamma had sent a squadron, three Jedi, and smuggler to help in resource running. Three weeks after their arrival they lost communication with other colonies.

A silver ship descended to the planets surface the hull a beacon in the darkness of the ruined surface of that world. The sleek form of that ship allowed it to go far deeper into the city than most ships dared venture slowly it the ship made it to the ground the loading ramp lowering to the ground. Tirus stepped onto the surface of the planet wearing thin dark brown robes his saber sat on his belt snuggly. Following behind him Juden looked out eagerly at the landscape noticing the destruction that lay around them. Nature had consumed some of the buildings while others still showed some signs of their basic structure.

“We walk from here, I believe that the colony was not too far.” Tirus looked to Juden conjuring a smile through the anxiety that he faced. “There are creatures here that can change a normal man into a monster, they were created by Sith alchemy. We must be cautious of the dark side while here.”

He did not give enough time for the young man to respond, or at least he did not hear the concerns that he might have had. Pulling out a communication device Tirus signaled for the ship to depart to the nearest colony and fly over within range of communication signal every six hours. He watched as the shuttle departed leaving them to the eerie silence of the unknown. Turning he looked out toward an old road that had been used as a trade route to the colony, that was where they needed to go. He began to walk at a steady pace the backpack on his shoulders making him move slightly slower than normal.

“Tell me Juden, how do you like the station? I assume the enclave has not been to boring a place to stay while you train.” He tried to keep the tension low with some idol conversation.

Juden was awestruck at how the nature of the planet has taken back over. The buildings that were left from the bombardment now had roots covering them, trees and grass now covered what used to be walkways and parks of Taris. His multi-shaded array of brown robes fluttered in the light breeze that crept through the broken buildings and the mended forest.

"There are creatures here that can change a normal man into a monster, they were created by Sith alchemy. We must be cautious of the dark side while here.” Master Tirus said to Juden in a unpleasant tone. He felt for his lightsaber under his robes, making sure it was still attached to his belt. Juden and Tirus then steadily made their way down an old road that should lead them to a colony. As they walked, Tirus spoke to make conversation of some sort.

“Tell me Juden, how do you like the station? I assume the enclave has not been to boring a place to stay while you train.” An inquisitive question, Juden believed. But one he wanted to answer.

"The Station is a critical help to the success of the Republic. A boring place? That I do not think. In fact, I hope to never leave the Station. One of the few places in the galaxy always willing to help when the they are needed." Juden answered in a quiet and soft tone, trying not to draw attention to him and Tirus while walking along.

"The Station is a critical help to the success of the Republic. A boring place? That I do not think. In fact, I hope to never leave the Station. One of the few places in the galaxy always willing to help when the they are needed." Juden answered in a quiet and soft tone, Tirus took note of his attempt to keep silent.

“Careful with that, staying in one place for too long can make you stagnant. I agree though the station is outgoing with its’ efforts to help the Republic.” He looked about as they walked noticing signs of recent traffic. He had done research on that planet; he suspected that the rakghouls were the cause for the lapse in communication although it was odd that there was so much traffic on the road. Noticing something on the ground he stopped motioning for the initiate to hold. Kneeling down he picked up a vial looking it over he placed it on his belt. “Looks like a serum to fight the ragout transformation, there haven’t been shipments here in at least a week. Be prepared for anything.”

Tirus went silent still following the path with determination. There were no signs of hostile movement in the shadows although something would rustle in a bush every so often giving the two men pause before they continued. The wind washed through the forest floor bringing the smell of smoke to the two men, the colony couldn’t be that far from their current location. Tirus looked at the man wondering if he smelled the same thing he had.
